People with hearing problems using have to face up to many challenges when it comes to using modern information technologies. In our hyper-connected society in which we all make use of wireless networks to communicate, deaf people are in clear disadvantage as they can't take full profit of their possibilities if the tools aren't adapted to their needs. Pedius is a mobile application that allows people with hearing problems to make and receive calls to and from landlines and mobile phones. How it works is really easy. When it comes to making a call, we can type in the text so that a voice reads out loud and send it to the other person or speak straight into the microphone. In turn, that person will receive the conversation transcribed in text format to be able to easily read it. Main features Interface organized by tabs: recent, contacts, and associated services. Choose the language of the call amongst dozens available. Receive minutes to call for free. Import contacts from your contact list or from your Google account. All the latter is possible to voice synthesis and speech-to-text technologies. You can read the conversation in real time and if there were any transcription problems, the app is capable of suggesting different alternatives. And if that isn't enough, you can ask the sender to repeat the message by simply pressing a button.
